FriendFeed Comments
What does this plugin do?
Did you know that with every received comment your blog’s SEO is improving? Do you know how to increase the number of comments? You can use WordPress FriendFeed Comments Plugin to increase your blog's comments. It automatically submits your WordPress blog posts URLs into FriendFeed, and in return shows all received FriendFeed comments under comments section of your blog posts. It allows you to show FriendFeed comments in your blog, and helps you increase your blog's popularity.
You have full control on deleting and approving the comments received via FriendFeed. You can also show your blog's readers who liked your blog post at FriendFeed. If you like you can also add your own comments at FriendFeed as blog comments.

Hey Yorum, Thanks for the wonderful plugin. I have installed the plugin but the option menu is not working for me and I cannot insert my friendfeeds username and api key. Any suggestion please.
Hi, first of all compliments !
I’ve got a problem: after installing ver. 0.5, when I try to click to “options” (in “friendfeed comments” settings panel) I can get the 2 field related to “nickname” and “remote key”. What can I do ?
thank you
@Richard : It’s a bug. I’m going to fix it soon ( in 1 or 2 days )
@vincos : You have to learn your friendfeed nickname and remote key. Login to friendfeed then you can learn them from here –> https://friendfeed.com/account/api
Elinize sağlık. Çok işe yarar bir plugin olmuş. Yalnız Türkçe karakter sorunu yaşıyorum. Bunu çözmek için ne yapabilirim? http://www.ersanozer.com/2008/10/10/uzmantv-nasil-para-kazanacak/
@Ersan Özer : Teşekkürler. Türkçe karakter sorunu için aklıma ilk gelen seçenek blogunuzun temasına ait olan comments.php dosyasının karakter kodlaması utf-8 olmayabilir. Bunu kontrol edip, sorun çözülmez ise tekrar geri bildirimde bulunursanız sevinirim.
my blog have several author ,,, is there any way to use this plugin for several freindfeed account ???
Gürkan teşekkürler, harika bir eklenti.
@Hakkı Ceylan : Teşekkürler

hi. Thanks for plugin
perfect.

Great plugin, what version of WordPress is it compatible of? I’m running 2.7.1 and I’m not seeing any comments nor is it posting to FF.
@Kol : Thanks. Did you enter your friendfeed nickname and friendfeed remote key to options/friendfeed comments page correctly? If you did, plugin must get comments from your blog’s rss items on friendfeed. I’m using plugin with WP 2.7.1 and there isn’t any error =)
Yes added nickname and key. So I have to import my RSS into FF? Can it be the custom RSS or the standard RSS (yellow or grey icon)? I watched the video above and it appeared that the posts were being imported as FF items (with the FF icon) that’s why I ask.
@Kol : Yes, you have to add your blog’s rss feed to friendfeed, it’s gonna import your entries automatically. Sorry for video. I recorded that video when i first realesed the plugin. In first version of plugin, plugin was adding blog post’s to friendfeed as a link then getting comments that comes for the link from friendfeed.
Standart RSS is ok, but actualt it doesn’t matter which rss feed you add to friendfeed.
Sorry for my bad english =)
OK, last question then, does it all work if I import my blog as a custom feed (the grey RSS feed icon in FF) or do it have to be the normal RSS feed (orange icon), which definitely works.
I tested plugin with Standart RSS feed ( orange rss icon ) so i don’t know does it work with grey rss icon, but give it a chance =)
Hmmm, if I use the custom feed import the test in the post is duplicated as the first comment from my FF User, see here on my test blog: http://www.e-lusion.co.uk/?p=10 and here on my test FF user: http://friendfeed.com/e/73be2feb-0add-de6a-4c82-f3e18e9b84c7/New-theme-test/. The text “321″ was part of the blog post but appears as the first comment on the custom RSS feed as well as the first comment on the blog.
Any chance this could be looked out/fixed? I’ll be importing images so having the custom fee would be ideal for me. My next test will be changing the RSS feed on my blog to a FeedBurner feed…
Hmm. As i understand, when you import entries from custom feed, Friendfeed adds post’s limited content to entry as a comment. I have just learned it. Sorry, plugin doesn’t have a fix for that. But i noted it, next version of the plugin i will add this feature to plugin. Thanks for your feedback. And as i see from your test blog. There is a date bug in plugin. Which version of the plugin are you using? As i remember, plugin had this bug in 1.0 version so i fixed in 1.2 version.
I’m using v1.2, just downloaded it.
I have another bug, in the custom feed here: http://friendfeed.com/e/07e5ef8c-8c18-999e-f396-16639d44f292/FeedBurner-test/ there is no sign of the last comment on the blog here “Test from blog” comment: http://www.e-lusion.co.uk/?p=13
Feel free to test anything on my blog/FF. Basically I would like to working fully else I won’t be using it. So I’m slowly adding plugins, themes and testing at every stage. On my other site it doesn’t work at all so at some stage something stops it from working and I’m trying to find out what.
Also is there any chance we can up the refresh rate from 15mins? 3-5mins would be a lot better, especially for testing.
Hi, Gürkan,
I’ve added my blog RSS not only to my account but also to friendfeed room. Can the plugin find and import comments from room entries too?
Sorry I thought I replied to you. Obviously not: I am using v1.2 the latest version. I only downloaded it for the first time yesterday. Quick question, should the plugin sync comments both ways? I have made comments on my blog posts but they do not appear on FF. The video above suggests this should work.
I think I’ll wait for the new version before launching my site as the above problem about the blog text coming out as the first comment would cause problems. Thanks for your help so far.
@Kol : It’s not a bug. Plugin adds mini ff icon to only comments comes from friendfeed.
3-5 minutes might be good for test, i will add =)
Hi Mio, plugin can find your blog post on friendfeed in your account’s rss entries so it can’t get comments from room entries. Sorry =)
Kol : You welcome. Thanks for your feedbacks. I wanna realese new version of plugin but i have an university entrance exam 3 months later, so i have to study so much. I think, i can realese new version of plugin in June.
Maybe I was wasn’t very clear, sorry. None of the comments posted on my WordPress blog appear in FriendFeed. The video shows that this should happen. Any ideas why this is not working? Comments made in FriendFeed appear on my blog, so that is OK but the comments from blog to FriendFeed is not.
Thanks for adding 3-5mins refresh rate, ideally this would be as frequent as you can but 15mins is too long really.
In your options / friendfeed comments page “send admin comments to friendfeed” choice is ticked? To use this feature, it must be ticket.
I don’t have that option, I have “Send post author’s comments to FriendFeed”. which is ticked already. January? Wow, that a *really* long time. Well good luck with uni, that’s definitely more important.
Yea, option you said must be ticket =) If it’s ticked, it should works. Can you check your remotekey?
I chanced it as a June =) I made an mistake when i first wrote comment =)
Yep I’ve checked my remote key and everything looks fine. Any other ideas why it’s not working?
Hehe, I thought you meant June, no worries.
Kol : I really don’t know what can cause this problem =) It works for me =/
There seems to be a conflict with the WordPress 2.7 media manager. I can’t add an image to post draft. When I invoke the media manager, I get this JavaScript error:
Any thoughts?
@Peter : Yeah, i know this bug. I’m gonna fix it soon. As i said before, i’m very busy to develop plugin because of university entrance exam. Sorry. Thanks for your feedback.
No worries — I was just wanted to know if you knew about it. Thanks for your efforts in creating a great plug-in that unites the blog and FriendFeed worlds. Good luck on your entrance exam.
Just curious — are you going to have a chance to get back to this plug-in? (I hope you did well on your entrance exam!)
@Peter : Yea, 3 weeks later i will be rewriting this plugin. Entrance exam is on 14 June

All the Chinese characters display as “?” in the comment even if I changed the table charset to utf8_general_ci. How can I convert all the character that got from friendfeed to utf-8? Thanks a lot.
Sorry I made a mistake. It displays ok after change the database to uft8
Another suggestion is to adjust the local wp timezone while displaying comment on wp.
Gürkan merhaba,
Eklentiyi kurdum ancak şöyle bir hata veriyor:
“To use plugin php_curl extension must be installed on your server”
Thanks for your feedback fivestone. I will add this feature to 2.0 version.
Merhaba,
